Did you know that the city of Lynchburg is going to lose weight? In fact, Lynchburg is going to lose 12 tons in 2012. Mayor Joan Foster challenged the city to go on a diet and this get healthy campaign keeps on growing.

Live Healthy Lynchburg is a year-long campaign. But, organizers want it to grow long-term. Lynchburg will hopefully become a city that values healthy food and exercise which lowers disease, improves the quality of life, and makes for a more productive workforce.

The campaign has been in the works since January.  The CDC granted Lynchburg $25,000 to get the city healthy. The money is being used to bring produce into low-income neighborhoods and create walk and bike friendly neighborhoods to promote a healthy lifestyle.

Can Lynchburg lose 12 tons in 12 months?

24,000 pounds! It is achievable when you look at the numbers and the population size in Lynchburg. It's less than a pound a person. It is easier to lose weight and exercise when you have help and friends doing it with you. So get everyone in your apartment in Lynchburg in on it too, as well as everyone at work. Lynchburg is losing weight.

Liberty University Women’s Basketball Schedule 

Hello Walden Pond! This weekend two of our local Lynchburg colleges and universities are celebrating their homecoming. Liberty University’s week will be filled with parades, bonfires, a pep rally, and many other exciting activities leading up to the Homecoming Game, Saturday October 9th.  The homecoming game begins at 3:30p.m. at Williams Stadium. Liberty College will also be welcoming home alumni all week long. This week will be remembered by gospel concerts, art shows, alumni receptions, and more. List of Homecoming Events
