As you may know, this month is Earth Month. In honor of Earth Day, AAA has partnered with the Arbor Day Foundation to plant a tree in a National Forest for every battery that is recycled starting on Earth Day, which was yesterday, April 22.
Whenever an AAA member has a new car battery installed and the old battery recycled, the auto club says they will have a tree planted in one of America's National Forests.
Nationally, AAA says they've recycled more than 10.5 million automotive batteries and continue to promote the importance of recycling this essential automotive part.
They say improperly stored or disposed of car batteries can create health, fire and safety hazards for humans, animals and the environment.
The auto club says they first began their mobile battery recycling efforts in 1997, and this year, AAA anticipates they'll replace and recycle an additional two million batteries via their roadside battery replacement service. If you live in an apartment in Lynchburg, VA recycle your battery and have a tree planted in one of Virginia's many parks.
