Sprayground is located in Riverside Park in Lynchburg. Sprayground is open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. There are water buckets and water spouts at this ground level water park and admission is free.
The James River is a favorite cooling down spot for some in the area. Fishing, boating, and tubing are great ways to cool down on a hot summer day.
The James River Float Company is open daily and offers rentals of kayaks and canoes and offers guided and unguided tubing tours which include drop off and pick up.
Smith Mountain Lake is located about an hour from Lynchburg. Holliday Lake is located about 45 minutes from Lynchburg. Both lakes are located in Virginia State Parks.
At both lakes, you can enjoy fishing, swimming, boating, camping, and other outdoor activities. Both offer ranger-led programs for kids and adults.
Bridgewater Plaza offers outdoor activities including miniature golf, arcade games, boat and water sport rentals, a climbing wall, and bungee trampoline, and also offers dining and shopping.
Splash Valley Water Park is located in Roanoke, about an hour from Lynchburg and is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Splash Valley has a Spray Ground, current river, zero depth entry pool, two 34-foot water slides, and more. This is a great place to spend a day without traveling too far from home.
